Tim Ho Wan (Toa Payoh)

First tried this when I went to HK last year and I was quite happy when they announced that they were coming to Singapore (yes yes it's been a long while). They opened at Plaza Singapura and all I heard was about the long long queues during peak hours. I don't really like to wait so I just put off visiting the place till the queues shortened. Then I heard they were opening at Toa Payoh! Yay, super near T's place. So we decided to head there one night for an early dinner in hopes that the queue wouldn't be too bad.

It's pretty near the Courts and is on the 2nd floor above the Soup Restaurant (which I also love, btw). When we went up the escalator... the queue was pretty long. But after enquiring, we only had to wait about 20 mins for 2 pax. Probably would have been longer if we needed a bigger table. There were stools placed around outside for waiting guests. I felt quite bad for Sakae Sushi which was next door and had no business. The place is really small and was very packed when we went about 6pm. We had to squeeze into a small table.

When we finally sat down, we ordered the famous Baked Bun with BBQ Pork, Pan Fried Carrot Cake, Pork Dumpling with Shrimp, Vermicelli Roll with Shrimp, Rice with Chicken & Sausage & Mushroom and also some special HK Fried Noodle that they had. It was actually quite ex and the total bill came up to $30+ for dimsum... Luckily for us it was quite filling cause of the rice and noodles that we ordered. All were really nice except for the Rice which T said tasted average and was some Thai rip-off (?? I have no idea) and the Noodles which were so-so.

Doubt I'll be going back there anytime soon, but the Baked Buns with BBQ Pork. YUM.
