This year, I finally managed to get a membership! One for me and one for T. DeB first popped up last year when my mum said that she really wanted to go for it. But the rush for registration when we were out last year was too crazy. This year, I made sure I was on a laptop to register and victory was mine ;)
I'm excluding all the insane Paypal troubles that I experienced. So, we booked 2 tables (one under each membership) so that my mum and my aunt could tag along. My friends managed to swap seats so that we could set up our tables together. Yes... you have to bring your own tables, chairs, cutlery, food...etc. And everything has to be white. Lol, to save us the trouble, we bought the tables and chairs from the DeB site which teamed up with NTUC. (They have fixed dimensions for the tables). Logistics trouble x100000.
Oh yes. All clothes have to be white too. They state that it must be pure white, and not cream/off-white...etc. But in the end there were people turning up in off-white and the organisers didn't really mind. Also, they didn't really care who you ended up sitting with. So other than the bus leaders, the group leaders don't matter. Actually, you can just find out about the secret location on the actual day and then drive there yourself. Saves so much trouble trying to find the bus and load everything on the bus.
Our gathering point was Stadium MRT so we drove there with all our stuff after dressing up. We were then told that the "Secret Location" was at the Marina Barrage. When we got there, daylight was almost gone. We tried to set up ASAP and took a few photos before night fell. Then we took out all our plates and cutlery for the food (which we brought ourselves, cause we did not want to order). Okay other than all the trouble.. the ambience was amazing. There was live music and the place was lit by bright lights at the side. Halfway through there was some sparkler fun and even fireworks!! Such a magical night. The scenery was gorgeous, with Marina Barrage and MBS in view. It was really nice to be there with T and my family & friends. It started pouring towards the end before we headed back to Stadium MRT in the buses. Thank God that it didn't rain during DeB!
Even though it's so troublesome... I think I just may go again next year. :)
& no, it's not an event for snobbish people, thanks.
