Hawker Heroes: Singapore VS Gordon Ramsay

I must write about this before I get swept up in my busy school life again. Also because I just went for this on Sunday and it's really vvvv recent. So might as well write about it now.

Queued for a reallllly long time in the hot sun and even the rain. We weren't allowed to leave even though we had gotten our ticket and wrist band. My friends and I were in the yellow group. M and I kept walking out to see when would Ramsay arrive, so that we could snap a pic of him and maybe get an autograph for M's boyfriend. Well... took us a few false alarms before we started running towards loud screams. Yeah, I survived a stampede and emerged with a really clear shot of Ramsay smiling. YAY. Even though I couldn't see what I was taking photos of. Success!

Then it was back to the queue... We only got our food around 7.30. While we were in line ready to get our food, we were able to watch some of the action live. Heh, it's really quite exciting being able to see Ramsay in the flesh. But anyway, my friends and I are not die-hard fans of Ramsay, so we just wanted to sample his food vs our hawkers' versions. After collecting our food, we drove to M's house so that we could eat in piece and not have to squeeze with everyone at Newton.

My final verdict: I voted for the Singapore versions for all 3 dishes: Chili Crab, Laksa and Chicken Rice. GR's Chili Crab was just spicier, I like Jumbo's one which was more flavourful and a little sweeter. GR's Laksa was kinda bland to me, and yellowish maybe cause of all the oil. GR's Chicken Rice was actually not bad, but his rice was too dry, he only gave 1 piece of chicken and his chili isn't shiok enough. Haha, these are my own opinions and my own tastebuds.

This is the first and last time I'll ever spend an entire day queueing up for stuff like a true blue Singaporean. It was fun though, I must admit.
